BLOCK OUT CURTAINS
Block Out Curtains or “Blockout Curtains,” no matter how you spell them, these window frame hugging, tightly weaved curtains will block out ambiant light filtering into your room to near pitch black conditions. Get the sleep you deserve and enjoy the insulation properties on offer from these amazing curtains. Be sure to ask about our Double Curtain options!
SHEER CURTAINS
Sheer Curtains are an engenious curtain. They let in natural light and create a brith, outdoorsy feeling, whilst guarding your privacy in the day time by adding a layer of filter that keeps prying eyes away. Use them in tandem with Block Out Curtains in a Double Blind to take advantage of each curtain’s benefits without compromising on functionality.
S-FOLD BLOCKOUTS
S-Fold Curtains are modern curtain popular with architects and interior designers, as they have no back and appear the same from either side. The “S” undulations in the fabric are created via the spacing of the carriers and the tape. S-Fold Blockout Curtains go one better by hugging the window frame from floor to ceiling, block out nearly all of the ambiant light!
Sheer Curtains + Block Out Curtains = Double Curtain
As we alluded to above, Sheer Curtains are light and airy. They let light in, and yet, they guard your privacy quite effectively in the daytime by masking clear views into your abode. That being said, they’re not going to keep all light out, and that’s where combining them with a Block Out Curtain into a Double Curtain arrangement allows you to have the best of both worlds.
The Block Out Curtain isn’t a full Black Out Curtain, but it might as well be. It’s made of a denser, heavier fully opaque fabric that hugs the window frame and blocks out exterior light. It provides a higher degree of insulation (keeping warm air in during the cooler months and keeping room temperatures cool in warmer times) and, yes allows you to relax in near pitch-black conditions when the interior lights are off.
Use them in tandem with Sheer Curtains and you suddenly have a stylish curtain that lets in the outdoor breeze and light (whilst somewhat shielding you from external gazes from nosy neighbours), and then allows use to fully close out the external world when you lower the Block Out Curtain.

S-Fold Blockout Curtains
Block Out Curtains are ideally suited to minimise sunlight and to keep furniture and floors away from sun damage. They are energy saving in helping retain a room’s temperature and the best (short of full Black Out Curtains) at keeping bedrooms free of light for a peaceful night’s sleep.
S-Fold Blockout Curtains offer a modern, stylish take on the classic Blockout Blind by bringing in a stylish S-fold pleat into the equation. The pure blockout fabric does not require an extra lining and the blinds light restricting properties are still very much on display.
In short, the S-Fold Blockout Curtain is a block out with style! See our full range in-store in our Adelaide showroom or book in an obligation-free consult at your home or office to discuss your curtain options in situ!

Curtain FAQ
Can sheer curtains be see through?
Even while allowing you to enjoy your view of the outside world, sheer curtain fabrics provide a degree of privacy so that no one can see what’s going on behind your windows. These lightweight and airy drapes give the perfect balance between inside/outside visibility – providing peace-of-mind in any space!
What does "block out" mean – and how is it different than "black out?"
Get maximum control over the amount of light in your room with blockout curtains. These special drapes are specially designed to keep out even bright sunlight, thanks to their flocked-acrylic coating on the back side which reduces glare and helps create a cozy atmosphere day or night.
Black out curtains go one level further. They block out virtually all light, or at least, that’s what they promise, and as such, extra care needs to be made in their installation to ensure no light seeps through.
For Sawade’s purposes, we make blockout curtains with heavy fabrics that hug window frames, but we do not claim to make full black outs.
Should curtains touch the floor?
The short answer is Yes.
The only reason you wouldn’t go down that route would be because there’s a functional impediment preventing you from having the curtains hugging the floor. Are they going to stick or get very dirty? Could you get away with pulling them up a tad more than you would normally without destroying the overall look…
